Foundations and Format

One-day-per-week from September to June each year, breaking for school holidays, rooted in a local Baptist church. Optional mission trips and discipleship experiences throughout the year.

Devotional Life

The School community will journey over the year in their devotion to God, creatively expressed in times of worship, prayer, biblical engagement, listening to God, personal reflection, in public and private spheres. Participants will learn to engage in the holy habits that spiritually form us.

Discipleship

Apprenticeship to Jesus in everyday life. Some is ‘caught’ within a supportive, intentional community. Some is ‘taught’ following a termly curriculum. Includes foundational theology, the story of the church, self-understanding, navigating current issues, and practical wisdom for making decisions as a Christian.

Developing Missional Living

A core aspect of all features of the School. Missional living is hands-on and experiential. Participants are trained and encouraged to step out in personal evangelism and making-disciples, social justice, and service to their communities and contexts.

 FAQs

  • As a student, you’ll build strong foundations in three key areas:

    • Devotional life – Growing in worship, prayer, and spiritual disciplines.

    • Discipleship to Jesus – Learning core biblical doctrines and practical teaching for everyday faith.

    • Missional living – Developing an outward focus through regular hands-on ministry, outreach, and leadership opportunities.

Along the way, you’ll gain transferable skills that prepare you for the next steps in ministry or your wider career.

You’ll also receive a St Hild Certificate of Completion, have the chance to take part in short courses, and open doors to further study with St Hild.

  • No formal qualifications required to take part, and no formal assignments. Teaching is generally aimed at around GCSE standard (Level 2), but can be tailored to each local context. Participants have the opportunity to enroll in specific short-courses with St Hild College alongside the School, which can be academically validated, and offered online, or onsite in Sheffield, Lincoln or Mirfield (West Yorkshire).

Hubs will be supported by St Hild CBM to develop robust application procedures.

St Hild College will offer an unaccredited ‘Certificate of Attendance’ at the end of the School to participants who complete. This could be attractive to young adults wishing to evidence their development and transferable skills in the workplace, and could act as a stepping-stone to encourage further theological study.

  • The School runs from mid-September to the end of June. It breaks for main school holidays.

TIMETABLE: 1-day per week typically from 9am-4.30pm, usually combining aspects of devotion, wisdom and mission. Additionally, one evening a week of corporate prayer/worship/devotion.

    Optional:

    ·  We strongly encourage each hub to arrange an annual ministry trip to a new and stretching location, which could be overseas. Trips could last a few days, or a week or two, depending on location and circumstances.

    ·  Potential to join with other regional hubs termly for shared training or worship events

  • Please contact your local hub.
